The Joy of family Night

I have always loved the idea of "family night". The picture I have in my head is of our family all nicely sitting down with arms folded. Andy or I giving a creative yet educational religious lesson to our kids. At the end we would have a great family night treat that some how relates creatively with the lesson. This perfect picture has never taken place in our family nights. I have pretty much thrown that perfect picture out of the window. This is what usually happens. First, we put Seth to bed. He just in no way will ever sit and listen to a lesson. We then have a very short lesson that lasts about well 2-5 minutes long. Then Isaac has to expound on the topic. He goes on to talk to us about who knows what, in a 4 year old going on 20 way. I don't want to discourage him from making comments. But the longer he goes on the more nap time Andy gets. Anyways, I guess it is just the habit of doing FHE that counts.
I found this great'family night scripture activity' Family Home Evening idea, it works great for Isaac because it is very simple and short. The best part is that it takes just a few minutes to plan. It has been going really great for our family so I thought I would share it. If any one else has any great FHE ideas please share!!

That site was cute....so many ideas! When I worked at Seagull Book they had fortune cookies with scriptures references theme...thought that was a fun little activity for FHE, epsecially after having an Asain meal.
