A Snowy Sunday. . .

I really wanted to get that last post off the top of my blog.
So I thought I would share some Michigan winter picture's.
This picture is our backyard. As you can see there is no sun!
I don't think I have seen the sun in about a week or so.
At least the snow brightens up the day :-)
This picture was taken in the middle of the day.

I took this picture after I vowed to myself that we WILL be investing in a snowblower. Since Andy is never home to help shovel the walks, guess who gets to do it? That would be me. I really don't mind shoveling once or twice. But I shoveled our driveway and walk 5 times last week. So instead of killing my back any more, next year I will take the easy way out and get a snowblower!!

Despite my hatred for shoveling, we have been really enjoying our first winter in Michigan.
Yes it is COLD(right now it is 31 degrees but feels like 23 degrees)
and yes we do get a lot of SNOW.
But I have noticed a few things about Michigan winter's that I really like.
1. They know how to plow roads. I have never felt like the world is going to end and I need to go run to the local grocery store and buy 10 gallons of milk. When we have a huge snow fall, I do not feel trapped in my house.
2. People here really know how to enjoy the winter. There are so many people that go outside despite the cold and enjoy the snow. Just today when I got home from church, there were a couple of people out cross-country skiing in the park that faces the back of our house. The local golf courses offer snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. And there are lots of good spots for sledding. We have a little hill in our back yard that Isaac and Seth meet up with their friends and go sledding.
3. It is so beautiful here in the winter. Even though the sun doesn't shine that often, the snow really makes it pretty. I love how snow looks on the trees and there are a lot of trees. I love how the snow makes being outside very peaceful. It is so nice to be cozy by a fireplace with a cup of hot chocolate on a snowy cold night.

I know that Michigan, in the winter, is not a very popular vacation spot. And don't get me wrong I am really looking forward to some sunshine. But for the time being, I am trying to enjoy my surroundings.

Snow is pretty, I miss that. But I really don't miss the shoveling though!

I wish I were as optomistic as you regarding the winter weather. I hate dark winter days. There are 44 days until spring, but who's counting? :) At least you have some snow so that makes it a little better! Kudos to you for shoveling the walk so many times!
