A is for Applesauce . . .

Now that Isaac is out of school for the summer, I have been trying to keep him busy with fun projects.
Isaac loves to cook with me in the kitchen.
So we both decided that we would make something yummy twice a week, and we are going to make things that start with each letter of the alphabet.

So we started with Applesauce.

This is how we made it:

1. Peel a bunch of apples.
We peeled 9 apples, because that is all we had

2. cut the apples into really thin slices like 1/4 of an inch.
Then put in a big pot. Add 1/2 cup of water. Then cover with lid and let simmer for about 40 minutes. Check and stir about every 5 minutes. If the water boils away then add 1 tablespoon more, you do not want the apples to sick or burn.

3. The apples should be very tender. Use a slotted spoon to place the apples into a blender. Then Blend the apples until it makes the applesauce.
4. The last step is putting in a couple shakes of cinnamon and a spoonful of sugar, mix that by using a spoon.
There you have it!
A very yummy, healthy snack that both Isaac and Seth loved to eat.
And that Isaac was able to make with a little help from me.

That looks so fun! Caroline stopped eating applesauce when she saw me feed it to Carter for the first time when he was a baby--since then it became "baby food" and she won't eat it!
