What do you do All Day?

This past week I have had three people ask me this question, What do you do all day?
The first was a mom with two kids, but she works all day and has a nanny, maid, and chef.
The second was a young girl who has just been married.
The third was a guy, who was really interested in why I stay home with my kids (he thinks that I am crazy, maybe I am?).
I felt Like saying to all of them, just because I am a stay at home mom doesn't mean I sit on the couch all day and do nothing. I know that they were not trying to be rude or anything, but were really wanting to know what I do all day.
All of you stay at home mom's probably agree with me when I say, that being a stay-at-home mom is one of the hardest and busiest jobs.
So here is a brief summary of my day today:
7 am- Isaac wakes me up
I throw on my workout clothes and put my hair back in a pony tail
Get Isaac and Seth dressed, make, eat and clean up breakfast
8am- Get both kids in the car with with bags, snacks, diapers, enough stuff to get us through the morning.
Pick up neighbor boy for 'Life of a Knight Camp' and drive down town to drop them off
9am-after Isaac and friend are settled at their camp, Seth and I go to the Downtown YMCA
At the YMCA I put Seth in Day Care while I run and lift weights, then I went swimming with Seth then took a shower at the Y
12noon-pick up boys from camp
drive home and pick up neighbor boy's other brother
make, eat and clean up lunch for Isaac and Seth and the other two neighbor boys
watched the neighbor boys for two hours
1pm-Seth goes down for a nap, changed a horrible poopy diaper
Damage control cleanup
Start preparing dinner for a friend who just had a baby
3pm-Neighbor boys go home
Cleaned up
Isaac and I read books for a good 30 minutes
4pm-take Isaac and Seth over to Neighbors to be watched
drive to my Doctors appointment (a physical and all that entails for us women)
5pm-drive home and pick up boys
Finish up making dinner for friend
6pm-serve dinner for our family
drive over dinner for my friend and see her adorable little girl
7pm-come home to Andy who says the dreaded words, "I am going downstairs to Study"
clean up dinner and family room and two boys with frosting all over their faces:-)
8pm-Give the boys their Bath
then pajamas on, teeth brushed, read a few books, then tuck in bed
9pm-here I am writing on my blog when I know that I should be mopping my dirty floor, folding laundry, going over the budget, yada yada yada. . . and I'll I want to do is go to bed because tomorrow I have another busy day.
So that is what I DO all day!
As crazy as my days can be, I feel so lucky and grateful to be able to stay home with Isaac and Seth and raise them in our home. The time that we spend together right now is so important to me. I just feel like they are growing up way to fast.

Amen Jessica! I would also like to add that throughout your day you probably were interrupted a million times by kids asking for a drink, to kiss their "owie" better and to answer questions about everything under the sun!

What do stay-at-home moms do all day? ha! If only people knew. It is so much more work than a job outside the home, in my opinion. But sooo much more rewarding. :)

It is amazing how quickly the day can fill up. Sometimes it is almost like a vacation for me to go into work in the evening.

Sometimes I forget how busy a day can be being a stay-at-home Mom, who never seems to be home.I like your post.

What a great post! I am learning to be a SAHM and it is so tough! I only have one little one that sleeps most of the day and I don't usually leave the house. But still, I find myself looking around at my house at 6:00 (Adam comes home from work) thinking - the dishes are still dirty, still laundry to do, nothing to show for my day. But I know I was busy! Luckily, Adam understands and never ever says "What did you do all day?" But it is worth it - I know that I loved coming home everyday from school and having my mom be there. No career can replace those memories with your kids! And no daycare/nanny can replace mommy!

Good for you Jess! All I do all day is yell at my kids and feed the baby (although, before I got pregnant with Axel, my days resembled yours quite a bit more...)

Jessica, you are amazing. I think people that don't get mommyhood need to walk in our shoes for just one hour. We sure miss you guys. We coming up soon, so I will give you a call.

I know exactly how you feel. Glad you get some personal time in the day at the Y to exercise; that is great! The days go by so fast don't they.. It is harder than it looks to be a stay at home mom.
